Mirza Saleh Shirazi

Mirza Saleh Shirazi (Persian: میرزا صالح شیرازی / ''Mīrzā Ṣāleḥ Šīrāzī'') was the first reporter in Iran.〔"A History of 163 Years of Iranian Press (the Story of Repeated Efforts).''Eqtesade Iran; Economic, Financial & International'' (Monthly) May 2000, No. 15 (''The Pars Times'' )〕 He was born in Kazerun. His newspaper ''Kaghaz-e Akhbar'' (Persian translation of the word "newspaper") was first published in May 1837, under the autocratic regime of Mohammad Shah Qajar. The goal was to communicate the decisions taken at the royal court and neutralize the activities of Fathali Shah's children, who had then made claims to the throne.〔
He wrote one of the first books in Persian about a Christian country - a travelogue about a trip to England made between 1815 and 1819. 〔Christopher de Bellaigue. ("Stop calling for a Muslim Enlightenment" ), ''The Guardian'', London, 19 February 2015. Retrieved on 19 February 2015.〕
